美国运输部长[1]是美国运输部的主管，在美国内阁排名14位。[2]1966年10月15日，林登·约翰逊签署法律条文，这个职位正式诞生。[3]该部门的使命是“制定和调整政策，以提供一个高效运作及具有经济效益的国家运输系统，並在适当情况下辅助国防。”[3]运输部长负责11个机构，包括美国联邦航空管理局、美国国家公路交通安全管理局等。[4]
