Dracut Senior High School is the public senior high school in the Merrimack Valley town of Dracut, Massachusetts.
The high school's colors are Columbia blue, navy blue, silver and white. The team name is the Middies and the symbol is an anchor, or a “Block ‘D’”. These are references to midshipmen, as historically, the town was a place where U.S. Navy uniforms were created. The original Dracut High was built in the early 1950s and was frequently overcrowded, as roughly 1,600 students attend the school that was built for a fraction of that number, approximately 900. However, in 2011, the Massachusetts School Building Authority approved funding to construct a new Dracut High School. The majority of the project is completed as of October 2014.[6]
Dracut High School is well known in the Merrimack Valley for their cheerleading team who has won 12
state titles and captured another 2 national titles.
Dracut High's Football team won the 2008 Division II State Championship. The football team will also made the playoffs in 2009 & 2010, but lost in the Semi-Finals both years. In 2017 Dracut beats Methuen 39-36, 2017 being the 55 year anniversary
Dracut is also known for their performing arts program. Especially for their marching band and colorguard. That have a three-star micca score. And their concert band. That just recently won first place at the festivals of Music in New York. Also their winterguard that placed first also at the festivals of music. Also in 2015 one third place at nesba for their division. Also their Orchestra that has won numerous Awards including one for the Festival of music. All of their Performing Arts groups perform at many venues in Massachusetts area. Along with Disney World in Florida and two different venues in New York.
