Kōdōkan




Kōdōkan is the name of various educational institutions in Japan. Literally, means "to lecture", means "way," and kan is "a public building", together translating as "a place for the study of the way." It can refer to:



  • Kōdōkan (弘道館), a Han school for the training of samurai warriors during the Edo period:


    • Kōdōkan (Hirosaki) in Hirosaki, (Aomori Prefecture)


    • Kōdōkan (Mito) in Mito, (Ibaraki Prefecture)


    • Kōdōkan (Saga) in Saga, (Saga Prefecture)




  • Kodokan Judo Institute (講道館), the oldest Jūdō school in the world, founded in 1882
