The State University of Tetovo (Macedonian: Тетовски државен универзитет; Albanian: Universiteti Shtetëror i Tetovës), located in Tetovo, Macedonia is one of the four state universities. The university was established on June 4, 1994 as the first Albanian language higher education institution in Macedonia, though not recognized as a state university by the national government until January 2004. The University is chaired by Dr. Vullnet Ameti. Courses and lectures are held in Albanian, Macedonian and English.

History

The State University of Tetovo was founded on 4 June 1994 as the University of Tetovo upon the initiative of the Albanian Cultural Society of Macedonia. The first lectures were held on February 16-17, 1995 in Poroj [mk] and Rečica.
